Seeking Summer 2027 internship opportunities

Jack McKeever

At UMass Amherst, I study accounting, work with a local CPA, and build small projects when I find something I want to solve.

In Spring 2027, I’ll spend a semester studying in Barcelona. I’m looking forward to experiencing the city beyond the classroom: its culture, neighborhoods, and everyday life. Travel is a big passion of mine, and I’m especially excited to explore other places while I’m abroad.

Outside of class and work, I’m usually golfing, following Boston sports, or playing FIFA Ultimate Team. I also spend plenty of time with my three dogs.

Accounting appeals to the part of me that likes working through details and understanding how things fit together. My work with a local CPA has made those connections more concrete and given me a clearer sense of where I want to go.

I’m most interested in audit and assurance, while keeping an open mind about tax and other areas. At Isenberg, I’m studying accounting with a minor in Economics and working toward the educational requirements for CPA licensure.

I also like having something to build outside of class. Lately, that’s meant trying AI tools and making small apps that help me stay organized. I’d like to begin my career in New England, though I’m open to moving for the right opportunity.

02 / Hands-on experience

What I do,
and what it’s teaching me.

My work spans accounting, campus operations, and hospitality. Across these roles, I’ve learned to work carefully with financial records, coordinate competing requests, and communicate clearly with coworkers and guests.

Accounting Assistant

Working with Michelle McGuigan, CPA, has helped me connect classroom concepts to actual financial statements. I prepare review engagement workpapers and help convert tax-basis accounting to GAAP accrual accounting.

That work has included reviewing 100+ transactions for proper period recognition and working with fixed-asset, depreciation, and debt schedules for a company with more than $5 million in annual revenue. I also perform monthly bank reconciliations for more than 10 local businesses.

At Isenberg, I help keep the day-to-day operations running. I coordinate room requests, assist at the front office, manage computer lab needs, and help maintain shared spaces for students, faculty, and staff.

Server

Serving has given me practice staying organized when things get busy and communicating with people throughout a shift. Alongside taking care of guests and processing payments, I help new servers learn the job.

03 / Things I’m building

Small projects.
Useful lessons.

These projects start with something I want to organize better. Building them gives me a reason to learn new tools and see where they’re useful.

DueDeck

DueDeck is a simple payment tracker I built with Python and Streamlit. It’s been a way to learn how an idea becomes an interface someone can actually use.

What’s behind it

I developed it in small stages, using pandas and CSV files to work with payment data. It currently supports a basic payment-tracking workflow. The demonstration uses sample data.

Internship application organizer

Applying for internships means keeping track of confirmations, portal links, and next steps. I’m developing an organizer around that process so those details are easier to find.

What I’m working toward

The planned workflow brings together confirmation emails, application links, and any materials still due after submitting an application. This is an ongoing project; these features describe the goal, rather than a finished product.

04 / Around campus

Learning with
other people.

Clubs give me a chance to try something new, meet people with similar interests, and keep learning beyond my coursework.
